Designed by the XSun start-up, the drone which was inaugurated in Guérande on Monday is energy-independent thanks to its solar panels and can make its own decisions thanks to its on-board artificial intelligence system. In time, it should be able to fly for several months. When you look at the prototype which is hanging in XSun’s workshop in Guérande, you can hardly imagine it being able to fly for months, at several thousand metres’ altitude. It barely weights 20 kg and its span is under 5 metres. Its carbon composite structure has been carefully designed. Solar panels will be installed on the double wing and will enable the craft to be energy-independent; its consumption will even be lower than its ability to recharge itself.
